Users Vs Licences
A "User" is defined as a single user name and password.A "Licence" is defined as the permission for a "User" to access the Property or Lease data for a particular Cityscope area.
When a company subscribes to Cityscope Online they purchase one or more "Licences" to use the data for a 12 month period.
Regardless of the number of "Licences" purchased, a company subscribing to Cityscope Online can create as many "Users" as they like.
"Licences" are then allocated to "Users" until all purchased "Licences" have been used.
One "User" can have multiple "Licences" (assuming the company subscribes to more than one Cityscope area or to both the Property and Lease data for a single area).
Not all "Users" within the same company will necessarily have the same "Licences".
An example of "Users" vs "Licences"
Big City Realty Pty Ltd subscribe to Cityscope Online.
The following table shows the Cityscope areas they have subscribed to and the number of licences purchased.
Cityscope Area | # Licences |
Sydney Cityscope | 5 |
Sydney Lease Expiry Diary | 2 |
Melbourne Cityscope | 3 |
Brisbane Cityscope | 2 |
Big City Realty create 8 "Users":
Brendon Wood
Chris Jacks
Josh Potton
Richard Crnek
Bruce Harris
Neil Speirs
Margaret Wong
Brett Scott
NOTE: There is no individual Cityscope area subscribed to for which Big City Realty has 8 licences. The number of "Users" is not related to the number of "Licences".
The allocate their licences in the following way:
Sydney Cityscope (5 licences)
Brendon Wood, Chris Jacks, Richard Crnek, Bruce Harris, Margaret Wong.
Sydney Lease Expiry Diary (2 licences)
Brendon Wood, Richard Crnek.
Melbourne Cityscope (3 licences)
Brendon Wood, Neil Speirs, Margaret Wong.
Brisbane Cityscope (2 licences)
Chris Jacks, Josh Potton.
Looking at those licence allocations by "User":
Brendon Wood (3 licences) - Sydney Cityscope, Sydney Cityscope Lease Expiry Diary and Melbourne Cityscope.
Chris Jacks (2 licences) - Sydney Cityscope and Brisbane Cityscope.
Josh Potton (1 licence) - Brisbane Cityscope.
Richard Crnek (2 licences) - Sydney Cityscope and Sydney Cityscope Lease Expiry Diary.
Bruce Harris (1 licence) - Sydney Cityscope.
Neil Speirs (1 licence) - Melbourne Cityscope.
Margaret Wong (2 licences) - Sydney Cityscope and Melbourne Cityscope.
Brett Scott (0 licences) - When Brett logs on he will see the areas that Big City Realty subscribes to, but won't have the ability to access any of the information himself.
The above demonstrates how "Users" and "Licences" differ and how licence allocation can be tailored to the requirements of individual "Users" and the Cityscope areas they need to have access to.
Can User Names and Passwords be shared?
Within a company, yes. It is possible for all employees within a subscribing company to share the same user name and password. This one "User" would be allocated all "Licences" This of course has the limitation that only one person can be logged on with a given user name and password at any one time.
